NEXT CLASS: COMING IN MAY 2009

Course Description:
Clinicians will have ample opportunity through teachings, group-discussion, practical, and in-depth experiential exercises to understand, apply and blend a variety of Jungian, Hawaiian, and positive psychological approaches and skills, all while “living” on the Big Island of Hawaii. The uniqueness as well as the intersection of these concepts will be integrated into the context of improving self, relationship, and community enhancement for self, as clinician, and for clients.
This workshop goes beyond negative, trouble-based approaches to psychotherapy, instead emphasizing positive life skills of contentment, joy, compassion, curiosity, and evolving consciousness. Clinically relevant, practical skills and traditional rituals will be focused on throughout the course. Within the context and research from Positive and related Strength-Based Psychologies, as well as Jungian insight and Hawaiian traditions, we will explore what it means to encourage our own and client’s self-growth, and healthy relationships via the: “The Pleasant Life, The Meaningful Life, and Engaged Life.”
This workshop will be structured to maximize learning and rejuvenation via four to six hours of learning time each day, integrated into specific handouts and discussion of didactic material on positive and strength-based psychologies; exercises in the local environs (sandplay experiences on private beach, amplification searches and walking meditations), but will also offer ample time to retreat, rest and regenerate in a beautiful island setting, with introspection and contact with the Hawaiian landscape.
Join us for time to reflect, share, and remember that we can take others only as far as we can take ourselves. Please join us on this interior pilgrimage to rediscover ourselves and put our wisdoms into action long after we journey home.
